One Piece Grand Ship Collection

Red Force

Kit Review

Straight build + Stickers

The 4th entry in the One Piece Grand Ship Collection is the Red Force. Unlike the Thousand Sunny or Going Merry, this one has never been made into a plastic model before, so it feels pretty fresh — and on top of that, it's a multi-sail ship unlike the previous entries, which makes it even more unique. ^^

First off, all seven white sails are nicely reproduced right down to each individual wrinkle, and the hull detail feels a bit more intricate and packed compared to the previous kits. That's probably because the ship itself is much larger in the lore, though the kit size is still on par with the others (non-scale, so Bandai does whatever they want..). If anything, that makes it an even better showcase of what the Grand Ship Collection is all about — small but impressively detailed. ^^

Just like the previous kits, it relies heavily on seals rather than color separation.. but they blend in well with the hull without feeling too out of place. The sail areas use a nicely flexible material, so the seals go on cleanly. That said, the netting in the middle doesn't sit flush against the hull, so glue seems necessary there — and a few other parts (especially around the masts) feel a bit loose compared to earlier kits, so a little gluing is probably unavoidable.

There are no moving parts to speak of, so it's purely a display kit — but it really captures the essence of this series: small, cute, and charming. Displayed alongside the Thousand Sunny and Going Merry, it makes for an absolutely adorable little setup. :-)
