One Piece Grand Ship Collection

Garp's Warship

Kit Review

Straight build + Stickers

The eighth entry in the cute and charming One Piece Grand Ship Collection is Garp's Warship. Its standout feature is the dog-head figurehead biting a bone, which pairs perfectly with the colorful hull design to make one seriously personality-packed pirate ship.

The kit's contents are exactly the same as the previous releases — it goes together quickly with a small number of parts, but applying the stickers and seals takes waaaay longer. Cleaning up all the gate marks and just assembling the thing takes about 10 minutes, but it felt like the stickers and seals alone took around 2 hours. ^^; The crab-shaped seals that go on either side of the mast are especially tricky since they have to wrap around a curved surface. On top of that, there are a ton of stickers to apply to the hull itself compared to other kits — you basically have to cover every inch of the exterior with stickers one by one, to the point where the blue molded color underneath is almost pointless. ^^;;;

The Action Base 2 compatibility and wave effect parts are also included just like the previous kits, and the stand locks into the bottom of the ship via peg connections, so it displays nice and securely. Since the lineup shares the same basic construction and quality with only the design changing, the fun here really comes from the shape itself. Either way, if you're a One Piece fan, this is one more fun item to add to the collection. :-)
