Straight build + Stickers
The Spiricle Striker Mugen from Shin Sakura Taisen — piloted by Amamiya Sakura — has been released as a 1/24 HG. Even though the scale is smaller than the previously released 1/20 Koubu-Kai, it's actually a bigger and much more colorful kit. Thanks to the color separation and stickers, the visual impact of a straight build feels like it's been upgraded by a factor of three.
Like the Koubu-Kai, it features an opening cockpit hatch and a seated pilot figure, though there aren't any additional hatch-open gimmicks beyond that. One sword and scabbard are included as weapons. Due to the design, limb articulation is below average, though there is at least a gimmick that extends the elbow and knee joints to expand the range of motion. That said, the joint strength and parts stability feel a bit more solid than the Koubu-Kai, and a joint part for mounting on an action base is also included.
Either way, this kit's biggest selling point is its dramatically more striking visuals compared to the Koubu-Kai — even a slight pose gives it a real commanding presence. Even if you're not a big Sakura Taisen fan, if you're just looking to enjoy some gorgeous color separation, this kit has plenty to offer on its own. :-)
