General Grievous

Kit Review

Straight build + Seals

General Grievous from Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith has been made into a 1/12 scale plastic model. He's on the tall side just like in the film, so he's noticeably bigger than the existing Stormtrooper kit. And it's not just the size — the overall sculpt and sense of depth are really impressive.

Like the Battle Droid before it, this kit features a one-piece articulated frame in the RG frame style. It has fewer moving sections than you might expect, but it still looks incredibly impressive. And beyond just the articulated frame, the overall articulation is excellent — the legs can fold completely to the point where you can pose him in a full crouching position.

The articulation is great, but what really stands out is the solid joint strength — no matter what pose you put him in, it holds firmly. This is honestly the most stable kit in the Star Wars lineup. On top of that, the non-woven fabric cape — which has a different color on each side — holds its shape better than other Star Wars kits, and it's easy to put on and take off.

General Grievous's signature trait is that his arms split front and back to become four arms, and this is recreated here through swappable parts. Four beam sabers are included and can be gripped securely, making his iconic four-saber fighting style fully possible. Thanks to the excellent articulation and solid joint strength, posing him is a real blast.

Overall, this is easily the highest-quality kit in the Star Wars lineup, and the satisfaction level is through the roof. If General Grievous was a character that caught your eye in the films, this is an A-grade plastic model I'd highly recommend. :-)
