Star Wars 1/12

Sandtrooper

Kit Review

Straight build

Following the Stormtrooper, the Sandtrooper — which appears in Star Wars Episode 4: A New Hope — has also been released as a 1/12 kit. The body is mostly identical to the Stormtrooper, with new accessories added to the shoulders and backpack.

The Sandtrooper's biggest feature is definitely that large multi-function backpack. You can combine various accessories to build it in Type A, B, or C configurations. A pad has also been added to the shoulder, which can be recreated in black (base), white (seal), or orange (seal) using seals. On top of the existing Sandtrooper weapons, the T21 repeating blaster has been newly added as well.

Since 90% of the base body is identical to the Stormtrooper, the articulation and joint characteristics are 100% the same as well. With reasonably flexible joints and solid joint strength, you can pull off a wide variety of poses. And just like the Stormtrooper, the gloss injection molding gives it a striking presence even just standing there, so this is a kit that looks plenty impressive even as a straight build.

Either way, this is another well-made Star Wars character kit following the Stormtrooper — the kind where building a whole bunch and lining them up together would make for quite an impressive display. :-)
