Straight build + Panel lining + Seals
The A-Wing Starfighter from Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi has been released as part of Bandai's Star Wars plastic model series. Rather than the typical dull gray you'd expect from Star Wars, it sports a distinctive color scheme combining ivory and dark brown. Just like previous releases, it features excellent detail, clean color separation, and comes with a generous supply of both seals and waterslide decals.
The light, washed-out color scheme makes panel lining feel pretty much essential on this kit, though the overall detail and build quality are solid enough. The landing gear is a swap-out design but is reproduced cleanly, and like other kits in the line, laser effect parts are included as well. The stand represents the surface of the Death Star, and it actually feels like it has even better detail than the stands from other kits.
This kit also comes with a Death Star turbolaser turret as an accessory, and the molding is quite precise with a nice sense of volume to it. Displaying it alongside the A-Wing Starfighter lets you recreate a much more convincing scene.
It might feel just a little less imposing compared to other Star Wars fighters, but it's a meaningful kit in that it faithfully recreates the A-Wing as it appeared in the film. If you're collecting Star Wars fighters, this is definitely one worth enjoying the build on. :-)
