It definitely feels more like a print than hand-painted.

Bandai has released Han Solo Stormtrooper Ver. as part of their Star Wars plastic model lineup. It's based on Han Solo disguised in Stormtrooper armor as he infiltrates the Death Star in Episode 4.
Basically, it includes all the same contents as the previously released 1/12 Stormtrooper (Episode 4 version), with Han Solo's head parts added on top. Han Solo's face is realistically printed using a new technology called the 3-axis jet finish.
Face parts like this are usually provided as painted parts, but apparently this 3-axis printing method makes mass production possible. If you look closely, you can tell it's printed — it has that pixelated look, like tiny dots clustered together. (Check the macro lens shots in the review photos.)
Since mass production is possible through printing rather than hand-painting, the price only went up ¥600 compared to the existing 1/12 Stormtrooper — which really makes you think, yep, that's Bandai and their technology.
Everything else is identical to the standard Stormtrooper, so in this review you'll mainly want to take a good look at the face made with this new technology. It's a minor variation overall, but there's something genuinely interesting about it that makes it feel fresh. :-)
