A 1/12 Darth Vader — Star Wars: Return of the Jedi version has been released as a Star Wars plastic model. It's a variation kit that includes all the parts from the previously released 1/12 Darth Vader with some additional parts added on.
First up, a head using the same three-directional 3D printing technique as the 1/12 Luke & Solo has been added, sculpted with the face from the scene in Episode 6 where he removes his helmet after fighting Luke. The print quality is just as high as the previous releases — if you look closely you can spot the printing dots, but it's cleaner than most hand-painted heads out there.
Also added is the damaged right arm from the fight with Luke, and the chest panel has been slightly revised with two new versions — a flat type and a three-dimensional type. Finally, the stiff plastic cape has been replaced with a soft, flexible material cape. It's much easier to handle, and you can now pull off slumped-down poses too, giving the overall kit a noticeably upgraded feel.
All the original parts are still included, so you can still build a standard Darth Vader as well. This review focuses on the look with the additional parts, so for the basic features of the Darth Vader kit itself, please check out the 1/12 Darth Vader reviewfor reference.
All these extra parts do push the price up by ¥1,200, but the kit itself offers a pretty generous package. If you're a Star Wars fan who hasn't built the original 1/12 Darth Vader yet, this is a definitive Darth Vader kit I'd definitely recommend. :-)
