First Order Special Force Tie Fighter

Kit Review

Straight build + Seals

This is the 1/72 First Order Special Force TIE Fighter kit from Star Wars Episode 7 - The Force Awakens. True to the Special Force name, the core section has been completely redesigned overall, while the wing parts reuse the exact same runners as the standard First Order TIE Fighter.

Compared to the standard version, the Special Force version switches from a single-seat to a two-seat tandem layout, making the cockpit section noticeably thicker and adding red accent colors on the left side. With the tandem seating adding a rear-facing pilot, the single thruster that was at the back center has been split into two separate thrusters on either side. Because of this, the stand has also been changed to plug into the two thruster holes instead. On top of that, a large gear-shaped structure has been added where the wings connect, giving it a somewhat more imposing look.

The rest of the kit is identical to the standard version, so for this review you'll want to focus on checking out the differences from the standard version. And honestly, this is the kind of kit that would look even better displayed alongside the regular First Order TIE Fighter :-)
