Star Wars 1/12

Kylo Ren (Episode 9)

Kit Review

Straight build + Seals

Ahead of the release of Star Wars Episode 9: The Rise of Skywalker, the 1/12 scale Kylo Ren (Episode 9) has been released. As you'd expect, it's based on the previously released Kylo Ren Episode 7 version, with a changed head and updated costume.

Unlike the Episode 7 version which was covered entirely in rubber clothing, this time a non-woven fabric cape is draped over the back and rubber material is only applied to certain parts of the outfit. The hood comes in two versions — one with it removed and one with it on — so you can choose which to attach.

The updated head has quite intricate parts separation, and the fragmented red cracks along with the rough surface texture have been rendered in a really premium way. As for the lightsaber beam parts, a new beam piece with an afterimage effect has been added alongside the existing one.

Since the body structure is the same as before, it still delivers solid articulation and joint strength — though it's not quite at the level where you can pull off super dynamic poses. It's best suited for casually recreating scenes from the film with some lightsaber poses.

Overall, this is a more refined and premium Kylo Ren kit, and it's a high-quality figure model kit I'd recommend for the intricate head sculpt alone. :-)
