Star Wars 1/6

Shadow Stormtrooper

Kit Review

Straight build + Panel lining

Following the 1/6 Stormtrooper, the 1/6 Shadow Stormtrooper has now been released. In terms of lore, it's an upgraded version of the standard Stormtrooper armor repainted in black — and from a kit standpoint, it's literally the same kit with a different molded color. Nothing has changed except the molded color being switched to black; it uses the exact same runners and contents as the existing 1/6 Stormtrooper.

That said, the gloss injection in black does have a noticeably better shine than white due to the nature of the color, which gives it a visually more imposing and powerful look. It's still a large and striking kit, but because of its size, the joints feel just a little loose. Articulation feels slightly worse than the 1/12, but the sheer presence and impact that comes from the size more than makes up for it.

Since the weapon loadout is also identical, if you'd like a more detailed breakdown of the contents, please refer to the 1/6 Stormtrooper review— for this review, just taking note of the color change should be enough.

Either way, this kit's main appeal is being able to build a big, black Stormtrooper, and the straight build looks great, so if you're a Star Wars fan, it seems like a fun large-scale action figure model kit worth picking up. :-)
