Thousand-Sunny 15th Anniversary. Ver.

Kit Review

Straight build
+ Stickers

This kit is the Thousand Sunny 15th Anniversary. Ver., released to commemorate the 15th anniversary of One Piece. It came out alongside the smaller-scale Grand Ship Collection, and this one is a color variant of the large-scale Thousand Sunny that was released back in the early days.

The overall molded color follows the same concept as the Grand Ship Collection — it's a gloss injection with a pearlescent finish, so the straight build looks really beautiful. One difference is that since this is a large ship, the parts breakdown is more complex than the Grand Ship Collection, so the walls on the deck came out in a plain different molded color rather than gloss injection. That said, the giant sails and most of the hull do share the same molded color feel as the Grand Ship Collection.

As an added bonus, the existing small character figures have been replaced with newly sculpted versions — and it's not just the sculpts that changed, there are actually more characters included too.

All in all, this is an anniversary edition with upgraded molded colors, and the straight build looks even better than before, so it's a pretty tempting item for any One Piece fan. That said, since two kits with the same concept came out at once, if you're trying to decide which one to get, I'd personally recommend the Grand Ship Collection — it's small and cute, and a lot easier to store. :-)
