Buzz Lightyear was released as a Bandai plastic model alongside Woody to celebrate the release of Toy Story 4. The build structure is similar to the Figure-rise Standard line, but since the character is so different, the building experience feels pretty fresh.

Just like Woody, the clean color separation combined with gloss injection makes the straight build look really impressive — though stickers are used a bit more here by comparison. The face sculpting style and moving eye gimmick work the same way as Woody's, but only 2 out of the 3 faces have rotating eyeballs. Also, the eyeballs are smaller than Woody's, so they're a little trickier to turn.

With solid articulation and joint strength, you can pull off all kinds of fun poses. As a special gimmick, the wings auto-open — using 2 pin springs and 1 regular spring, pressing the red button on the chest sends the wings snapping open with a satisfying swoosh. It's got a real toy-like feel to it, kind of like popping open an automatic umbrella. On top of that, the left arm opening gimmick is also reproduced, so overall there are quite a few more gimmicks here compared to Woody.
