Raijinmaru has been released as the 8th kit in the 2024 new Mashin Sozoden Wataru plastic model series. The base frame and joint structure are the same as the series' first kit, Ryujinmaru , with only the outer armor changed. Thanks to the weapons mounted on both shoulders, it has a noticeably fuller, more voluminous look.

Since the same frame is reused, it still delivers solid articulation and joint strength. The two Raimei-Ken swords included as weapons can be combined into a tachi. There are no other special gimmicks, so for this review, just taking a good look at the new design should be plenty.

It's a Wataru variation kit that makes great use of a shared frame while delivering a clearly distinct visual. Build quality is on the good side, so if you're a Wataru fan or the style catches your eye, this looks like a kit you can pick up and enjoy casually. :-)
