This kit features a character from Mashin Hero Wataru, HG Ryujinmaruand following that, Jyakomaru has now been released as an HG as well. It's got that signature stubby proportions, but the color separation without any seals really makes it stand out visually — even the black parts of the eyes are broken down with careful color separation.

First off, the plastic has a nice feel to it and goes together smoothly. The short limbs do make the articulation a bit frustrating, but the transformation gimmick is surprisingly well-engineered — more refined than you'd expect. The transformation process is a little more involved than you might think, but it pulls off the tiger mode quite convincingly. Weapons include the Tiger Sword, Tiger Shield, and Evil Tiger Missile, and a small clear stand is also included for the Evil Tiger Missile.

All in all, this is a high-quality kit with excellent color separation and a solid transformation gimmick. The unique proportions might be a bit divisive, but if you're a Wataru fan, this one's definitely going to put a smile on your face. :-)
