Kit Review
Straight build
Straight build
Following the 1/72 Cosmo Zero [Kodai], the Yamamoto color variant has now been released. As you can see, aside from the red parts being changed to orange and the yellow parts to white, the kit is structurally 100% identical, so there isn't a whole lot of new ground to cover here. For a detailed look, please refer to the 1/72 Cosmo Zero [Kodai] reviewand just take note of the changed molded colors.
One other difference is that since the pilot has changed, the pilot figure has been swapped out for the Yamamoto figure, who has a rather nice figure (..). At its core this is a kit that combines the precision of Aoshima's snap-fit style with Bandai's gunpla-style construction, and it seems like a kit you can have plenty of fun with just doing a straight build and some panel lining. ^^
Ultimately, this kind of kit will probably appeal mainly to old-school fans with strong memories of Yamato — and since it's a color variant without any major changes, unless you have a particular interest in the female pilot's aircraft, you'd probably want to go with the main character Kodai's kit first. Of course, if you're a die-hard fan, you'll want to build all the color versions anyway :-)
