Kit Review
Straight build
Straight build
Following the Yamato 2199 1/72 Cosmo Falcon Kato's plane, Shinohara's plane has now been released. As you can see, it's essentially just a color variant with a different color combination — but the contrast has been made noticeably sharper, and there are a few more colors in the mix, giving it a more colorful overall feel.
The basic build characteristics are the same as the previous kits — aside from a few spots, everything snaps together easily without glue. Just like Kato's plane, the rear verniers are a bit stiff to assemble, and the regular bay (as opposed to the bombing missile bay) fits loosely — same deal as before.
So aside from swapping in the bombing missile bay and attaching the landing gear, there's not much else going on feature-wise — it's really a kit where you just enjoy how it looks straight out of the box. The build is fun and the end result looks great, but above all, the color combination being more striking than Kato's plane is probably its biggest selling point.
Either way, it's a nice addition for Yamato fans — and since the straight build looks way better than Kato's plane, this one's even more worth recommending. :-)
