Kit Review
Straight build
Straight build
This kit is the Core Ship of Deusula The 2nd from Yamato 2199. As you can see, it stands out as a bright blue warship among the otherwise drab olive-colored Gamilas fleet, and it shows off a relatively vibrant color separation.
The overall design is missile-shaped, and what makes it unique is that it's a rotationally symmetrical craft. Even during assembly, it can get a bit confusing figuring out which end is the top and which is the bottom. There are quite a few parts that seem symmetrical but actually have a specific orientation, so it's worth taking your time and following the manual carefully.
There are no gun barrels to speak of, so there are essentially no moving parts, but the color separation on the small red and clear green parts really stands out, and there's nice color separation in various other spots too, so it looks great even as a straight build. Compared to the other Gamilas warships with their dull, monochrome feel, it really makes you think that a high-ranking officer's ship is just something else entirely. ^^;
On top of that, two Zeydra II fighters are included as accessories — they're small but nicely detailed and fairly easy to build, so they're a fun little bonus. It seems like they probably threw in two to get more mileage out of the mold cost, but honestly, it would've been better to just include one and lower the price... hmm.
Anyway, among all the Yamato 2199 warships, this is the kit with the highest straight-build quality, and if you're looking to enjoy a unique design and a satisfying build, it's definitely a warship kit worth taking on. :-)
