The last of the Yamato 2199 multi-deck carrier trio, the Schderg, has finally been released. It's a sister ship to the Lambea and Balgray — different molded color, and structurally only the shape of the deck ends differs. Among the three, the Schderg's distinguishing feature is its slightly narrower top deck.
The basic structure is nearly identical, so there isn't much that's dramatically new to look at — but interestingly, alongside the 21 Debakkes/Snukas, you also get a whopping 36 Dolsiras. That's so many it's almost impossible to line them all up on the deck at once — honestly a bit excessive ;; The price is 400 yen higher than the other sister ships because of it, but I can't help thinking 24 would've been more than enough — not sure why they felt the need to cram in that many..
The bonus Mecha Collection Dolsira is also about twice the size of the previous Snuka/Debakke, which actually makes for a satisfying, chunky build. The finished detail and overall look are probably the best of the bunch too.
Either way, this kit is significant in that it completes the trio of uniquely characterful multi-deck carriers, and if you're a Yamato fan, putting together this distinctive carrier set is definitely worth doing ^^ (The catch being that all three together will run you over 20,000 yen..)
