Straight build + Panel lining + Stickers
There's some internal frame structure, but like RE/100 kits, this one focuses purely on exterior detail.
This is the 1/100 RX-78F00 Gundam, a Gundam Factory Yokohama exclusive release. The design and detail are virtually identical to the 1/144 version released alongside it — like a straight-up enlargement. There are a few finer touches that you'd expect at 1/100 scale, but the two look so similar that it's hard to tell which scale you're looking at just from photos.
Most of the other features carry over from the 1/144 as well — the movable shield attachment point, the backpack mounting function, the cover gimmicks on the forearm and rear skirt, all the same. The photos may look similar, but in person you really do get a sense of greater volume and presence compared to the 1/144. There are also more stickers applied throughout, which means the design colors are reproduced with a bit more precision.
The overall feel of the kit is close to RE/100 — it actually uses RE/100 polycaps too. The concept is all about realistic exterior detail without an inner frame, but joint strength is noticeably better than your typical RE/100. Probably because the proportions are relatively slim, which helps. Combined with solid articulation and stable joint retention, this is a very easy kit to pose.
As a bonus, a dedicated display base is included — it's a scaled-down replica of the actual support structure at Gundam Factory Yokohama. For the 1/144, that support structure plus the cage were combined into a separate G-Dock kit, but here with the 1/100, the support base comes included right in the box.
In terms of looks alone, it feels more precise and refined than most MG kits — though the silhouette is one that might subtly divide opinions. Articulation is great, joint strength is great... but there's also a certain hard-to-pin-down sense of something feeling slightly off. That said, from a pure model kit standpoint this is a very high-quality, clean build, so if the style appeals to you, it's definitely worth recommending. :-)
