Reconguista in G HG

Kit Review

Straight build + Stickers

The third HG kit from Gundam Reconguista in G is the Montero, equipped with flight wings. It vaguely reminds me of the Over Flag from the 00 era, though there's no transformation — the wings just spread out. The overall design concept doesn't really feel like a typical Gunpla, but it has the kind of style you'd expect from an enemy unit in a non-Universal Century Gundam anime.

As you'd expect from a new release, the kit is nicely put together, with a satisfying build experience, decent articulation, and solid joint strength. It includes the beam wire parts that also came with the Grimoire, which can be attached to the handle mounted under the wing. These beam wires can also be configured into a beam Jabelin form by connecting two of them end-to-end to extend the length — and the elongated beam Jabelin itself is included as a separate part.

Honestly, since I'm reviewing this kit without having watched the source material, I don't have much of a personal attachment to the unit itself. Compared to the previous G-Self and Grimoire, it feels like a fairly straightforward HG-class kit without anything particularly standout. That said, the build quality is clean, so I'm a little curious to see what new kits will come out next. :-)
