Kit Review

G-Reco keeps pumping out two new kits a month, and this time around it's the Gaeon getting the HG treatment, following the Elf Bullock. The overall design feels fresh, though it does have that non-Universal Century Gundam vibe to it. The Big Arm Unit backpack gives this mobile suit a really distinctive personality all its own.
First off, the two-tone purple molded color looks pretty nice, and the color separation along with the seals are well done, so the straight build already looks great right out of the box. The real highlight of this kit is the Big Arm Unit — a giant hand-shaped backpack where not only the wrist joints extend in multiple stages, but every single finger knuckle is articulated too. This lets you deploy the Big Arm Unit in all sorts of angles and positions, pulling off dynamic poses you just won't see in any other kit.
On top of that, 8 beam saber parts are included that can plug into the tip of each finger, letting you recreate some seriously voluminous poses that could fill up an entire photo studio. And despite its large size, the joint strength is solid too — no matter what angle or direction you put it in, it holds its position really well.
So while the main body's style and articulation might seem pretty ordinary, the Big Arm Unit is so fun and interesting to play around with that this kit more than earns high marks. It's a must-have HG kit for G-Reco fans, and even if you're not into the source material, it's such a uniquely quirky kit that any Gunpla fan should give it a shot at least once. :-)
