Reconguista in G HG

Gastima

Kit Review

Straight build + Stickers

The 15th HG kit from Gundam Reconguista in G is the Gastima — a uniquely designed kit with a desert-inspired color scheme. The left and right shoulders are asymmetrical, and the colors on each arm are different too, which gives it a really distinctive look. The basic color separation is solid, but what really sets it apart is the large number of small clear pink parts broken out as separate pieces — something you don't often see in other HG kits — which makes the whole package feel surprisingly premium.

On top of the unique design, there are several interesting gimmicks worth noting. First, a cable runs from the back all the way to the beam saber on the rear skirt. A circular beam barrier can be mounted on the left shoulder. The right shoulder features three panel missile bays with nicely done color separation, and there's also a slide-out gimmick at the shoulder tip to extend the Photon Eye sensor.

Overall articulation is above average and genuinely feels good to handle. The distinctive design means that even a moderate pose can look pretty dynamic, and the joint strength is solid so nothing flops around. ^^ On top of that, there's a gimmick where you can swap out the Photon Balancer covers on the back of the head, back, and rear skirt with clear pink parts, which makes for a really impressive rear view.

All in all, this is one of the better kits in the G-Reco HG lineup — the color separation exceeds expectations, the gimmicks are stylish, and it poses well. It's probably one of the first kits I'd recommend from this series. :-)
