Guntank

Kit Review

Straight build + Panel lining

Oh yeah~
The Guntank has been released as an HGUC kit. True to the HGUC line, the molded colors and overall look are nearly perfect. The lower tank section is built very similarly to a regular tank plastic model, with wheel assembly and soft vinyl caterpillar tracks — and it looks really convincing.

That said,
the caterpillar material is a bit stiff, so it feels a little more rigid than your typical tank model kit. On the plus side, panel lining all those caterpillar track joints really improves the look. The wheels have great detail and really do look like a tank, but they feel a bit bare, so panel lining is pretty much a must to bring out the depth. (See photos) Of course, that work takes quite a bit of time and effort... ^^;

Since the lower body is essentially fixed in place, the arms are pretty much the only thing with any real articulation — but the arm joints can rotate in all directions, so you can pull off just about any pose. The neck has almost no room to move.. and the shoulder cannons can be raised up to about 90 degrees. Using a light blue clear part for the cockpit section is a nice touch for realism, but the cockpit interior detail itself is a bit too childish for my taste.

Either way, it's great to finally have one of the Federation's main units properly kitted out — this is definitely something to welcome. The fact that it's a tank-type rather than a regular MS makes it feel really fresh. Considering the price-to-quality ratio and its uniqueness, this is an excellent kit that's well worth it.
