HGUC RGM-79N

GM Custom

Kit Review

Straight build
+ panel lining

The GM Custom from 0083 — which really should've come out ages ago — has finally been released as an HGUC. The basic base borrows the body frame from the Powered GM and GM Kai, but since nearly all of the exterior parts are on new runners, it's a bit hard to call it just a variation.

Since it uses the latest GM frame — the GM Kai frame — the build feel, articulation, and joint strength are all in very good shape. The GM Custom's signature bright sky-blue molded color comes out clean and crisp, more than enough to not look cheap, and the proportions and detail stay true to recent HGUC trends. The articulation isn't anything crazy, but it's well designed enough to pull off plenty of poses, so no real complaints there.

Overall, there's nothing that stands out as exceptionally impressive, but as a high-quality HGUC that nails the fundamentals, it should make a great addition for anyone looking to complete their 0083 lineup. In particular, the proportions are far more solid and clean than the MG GM Custom released long ago — this is a textbook HGUC kit. :-)
