The Jesta has been released as the latest addition to the HGUC Unicorn lineup. The design and concept feel like a continuation of the GM → Jegan lineage, but look closely and it's actually a 100% brand-new kit with an all-new design.
First off, this is a kit that caught me a little off guard with how sleek its design and proportions are. You'd almost wonder if there was ever anything this cool in the GM family — it's got a really sharp, stylish look, and true to its modern design, the proportions are edgy and striking. The canonical colors are a bit on the dull side, so the molded color does take a little away from those great proportions, but in a way, the heavy color scheme also makes it look tougher.
Overall it's a very solid, well-rounded kit — articulation isn't exceptional, but it holds poses nicely and the joint strength is solid. The shield mounting parts forgo a movable joint in favor of two fixed parts in different lengths, but thanks to that, the shield locks in at a clean angle without any wobble.
There's nothing particularly standout to mention in terms of what's included — it's just a solid, high-quality kit — but the feel you get from building it, thanks to that sleek design and those great proportions, is really excellent. Even if you've been feeling a bit tired of Gunpla that all looks the same, this is one I'd strongly recommend. It's a sharp, stylish HGUC kit we haven't seen in a while. :-)
