The Banshee — a deep navy blue Unicorn oozing charisma — has been released first in the HGUC lineup. Just like before, the Destroy Mode and Unicorn Mode were released simultaneously, and just like the standard version, the Destroy Mode got the earlier kit number.
In terms of lore, the Banshee is essentially the same unit as the original Unicorn, just with different colors. The visual differences are the more complex head antenna and the Armed Armor units mounted on both arms — which means the original beam rifle and shield have been relegated to leftover parts.
The base body quality is naturally the same as the standard version, offering decent joint strength and average articulation, but it does a great job of capturing the intricate color combination of the Destroy Mode. The inner frame color has changed from pink to a mustard yellow, which creates a complementary contrast against the deep navy blue armor, giving it an even sharper, more vivid look. The deeper, richer colors overall just give it a stronger sense of charisma.
The Armed Armor VN on the left arm and the Armed Armor BS on the right arm are both fixed in the open position, so they don't actually move like they do in the lore. Since this is the HGUC Unicorn, which prioritizes stability — the Destroy Mode is fixed in the open form, while the Unicorn Mode is fixed in the folded form, keeping the two versions distinct.
Even though it shares the same Unicorn base body, the intense, charismatic color scheme has had a lot of people waiting for a Banshee kit — and it looks like it delivers at a satisfying level. An MG version will probably come out eventually, but the solid, reliable feel unique to HGUC definitely has its own appeal. A must-have kit for any Unicorn fan. :-)
