Zaku I Sniper Type [Yonem Kirks]

Kit Review

Straight build

The Zaku I Sniper Type [Yonem Kirks] has been released as a Unicorn variation in HGUC. Compared to the existing HGUC Zaku Sniper, the molded colors of the body and backpack have been changed, a head antenna has been added, and the shoulder spike armor has been revised. On top of that, two barrel cases have been added to the backpack, and as a bonus, some small detail-up parts have been added to the shoulders and chest area as well.

Since the HGUC Zaku Sniper kit is already a really clean, quality kit at its core, this one delivers the same satisfying build experience. It's not top-tier, but the articulation is more than decent, the joint strength is solid, and the flexible ankle joints make posing a lot of fun. ^^

The base molded color is the same desert tone as the normal version, but the changed body color along with the revised head, shoulders, and backpack make it look surprisingly different as a kit. It's also a refreshing touch — and somewhat rare for Gunpla — to have detail-up parts that you glue on, which almost gives off a nostalgic early MG vibe.

Anyway, it might look like a simple color variant at first glance, but it's actually a surprisingly fresh kit — and one I'd highly recommend to anyone who hasn't built the HGUC Zaku Sniper yet. :-)
