Exactly one year after the HGUC Banshee Norn Unicorn Mode came out, the Destroy Mode has finally been released. I'm not entirely sure why they spaced them out like that, but it seems like it got pushed back with all the new releases flooding out lately. ^^;

At this point, HGUC Unicorn Gundam variations have been done in so many forms that there's not much that feels new anymore — but thanks to the large Armed Armor DE shield and the dramatically spread Armed Armor XC on the back, this one ends up being the flashiest of the Unicorn lineup. And unlike the standard Banshee, the psycho-frame is rendered in translucent orange parts, giving it an even more striking, jewel-like quality.

The biggest highlight of this kit has to be the large Armed Armor DE — the fully spread-out Destroy Mode configuration is reproduced in a really cool way. The Armed Armor DE can be mounted on both the forearms and the backpack using various joint parts, and for its size it holds on surprisingly well, so posing it isn't much of a hassle.

All in all, solid articulation and joint strength combined with a striking appearance make this a great kit that feels premium both in terms of build quality and visual impact. Even if you're feeling a bit tired of Unicorn Gundam kits, I'd still encourage you to give the Banshee Norn Destroy Mode — the ultimate entry in the Unicorn lineup alongside the Phenex — one more shot. :-)
