HGUC RX-78GP01Fb

Gundam GP01Fb - Linkin Park ver.

Kit Review

Straight build

This kit is the GP01Fb Full Burnern released as a limited bundle to commemorate Linkin Park's album "A Thousand Suns." It's one of those kits that makes you think, wow, they really do put out every kind of limited edition imaginable ^^;

The background behind this kit's release is... first of all, apparently all the Linkin Park members are Gundam fans, and on top of that, they were tapped to do the theme song for the arcade game Gundam Extreme VS. Hence the box art, which features the Linkin Park members standing around dressed in various 0083 uniforms. Either way, it's pretty fun to find out that this famous band is a bunch of Gundam nerds too lol

Content-wise, the molded colors are reworked into an overall black-and-white scheme, with the white parts molded in two shades — pure white and light gray. On top of that, there's a set of Linkin Park version-exclusive seals included.

The kit's structure itself is 100% identical to the original, so there's nothing particularly new to look at. The HGUC Full Burnern is quite an early release to begin with, so the quality does feel a bit dated. The articulation in particular wasn't great even back then, so the poses you can pull off are pretty limited. And honestly, while the black-and-white look is unique, I personally wouldn't go so far as to call it pretty ^^;

At the end of the day, the CD is the main attraction here rather than the kit itself — but it's still neat that such an interesting limited edition exists at all :-)
