HGUC RX-9/C

Narrative Gundam C-Packs

Kit Review

Straight build + Stickers + Panel lining

The Narrative Gundam C-Packs from Mobile Suit Gundam NT has been released as an HGUC kit. Compared to the A-Pack body that was loaded up with massive armaments, this one has the psycho-frame exposed — essentially the equivalent of the Unicorn Gundam's Destroy Mode.

The basic structure is the same as the RX-9 body from the HGUC Narrative Gundam A-Pack, with red psycho-frame exposed all over the body. The articulation gimmicks at the shoulders and hips, as well as the overall articulation, are identical too — it really feels like a kit that's just been redesigned. On the plus side, it comes with a rifle and shield that weren't included with the A-Pack kit, and along with the manual there's also a short Mechanical Report booklet introducing the RX-9 series of mobile suits. (See the Info page Manual scansfor partial reference.)

The articulation is decent enough, but the joint strength doesn't feel quite as solid as it did on the A-Pack body. It's not loose enough to be a real problem, but there's a slightly slack feel overall — posing and holding positions isn't really an issue, but I do wish the joints were just a little tighter.

It's a kit that feels like a clean, simple Unicorn Gundam Destroy Mode, and it gives off enough of that UC-era mobile suit vibe that even if you haven't watched Mobile Suit Gundam NT, it's still a fun build to enjoy. :-)
