Straight build + Stickers + Panel lining
Following the release of the Leo, the Maganac from Gundam W has now arrived as an HGAC kit. It was released before in the SD G-Generation series, but this is essentially its first time as a proper-scale Gunpla. True to its image as a mass-produced MS from the Middle East, the color scheme is wrapped in desert tones — though seeing the Maganac get the HGAC-level lineup treatment does make you wonder if they're running low on new ideas. ^^;
The overall build and quality feel is very similar to the HGAC Leo — it almost feels like the same structure with just a different design slapped on. That said, the color separation is solid as you'd expect from an HGAC-level kit. Aside from the front and rear shoulders being handled with stickers, the skirt and chest color combinations are cleanly split into separate parts.
There's a bit of a frame in the arms and legs, and the flexible waist combined with excellent limb articulation makes posing a breeze. Joint strength is decent overall, but the common issue with HG polycaps still shows up here — the shoulders tend to pop off during posing. On top of that, the side skirts also have a tendency to come loose while moving things around. As long as you're careful about those points though, stability after posing is pretty much fine.
It's a meaningful kit just for the fact that even a minor unit like the Maganac got a clean HGAC-level release, and it should make a great addition for anyone who was a fan of the Gundam W series. :-)
