HGAC XXXG-01H

Gundam Heavyarms

Kit Review

Straight build + Stickers + Panel lining

Gundam Heavyarms from Gundam W has been released as part of the HGAC lineup. It's the third main-cast HGAC unit following Wing Gundam and Gundam Sandrock. The bright, vibrant color scheme is pulled off cleanly through solid color separation, and the six hatch-open gimmicks for that signature full burst pose are well executed too.

Since it basically shares the core skeleton runners with the HGAC Gundam Sandrock, the articulation and structural features are very similar. The special forward-bending waist joint gimmick and hip joint slide gimmick are both reproduced here. That said, just like with the Sandrock, bending the waist too far forward can cause the upper and lower body to suddenly pop apart, so it's still a bit nerve-wracking to push it too far. Aside from that, it offers the same solid articulation and joint strength as the HGAC Gundam Sandrock, making it pretty easy to get into poses.

The main weapon, the beam gatling, can be mounted on the left forearm or on the backpack, and the right arm features a poseable army knife. A total of 3 hand sets are included, though there aren't really any other accessories beyond that. All in all, this is a high-quality HG kit that nails the basics without any major complaints, so it should be a great treat for anyone who's been waiting for a Heavyarms kit. :-)
