Immortal Justice Gundam

Kit Review

Straight build + Stickers + Panel lining

The Immortal Justice Gundam from the theatrical anime "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM" has been released as an HGCE kit. The overall build and quality level feels pretty much the same as the simultaneously released HGCE Rising Freedom Gundam— and in fact, a good number of the body frame and joint parts share the same structure.

Because of that, the overall feel of the kit is similar to the HGCE Rising Freedom, and in particular the articulation gimmicks throughout the body — waist, hips, ankles, etc. — are nearly identical. The ankle side-to-side tilt is actually a bit more flexible on this kit though. Also, instead of the detachable Fatum backpack from the original Justice, this one comes with a fixed backpack called the Wounderfalkea. Overall it still delivers excellent articulation and solid joint strength, making it a really fun kit to pose.

Another notable point compared to the HGCE Rising Freedom is that this kit comes with far fewer seals. It seems the color separation alone was enough to faithfully reproduce the design's color scheme. That said, the purple sections on the beam rifle are still handled with seals, which is a bit of a bother.

For weapons, you get the standard beam rifle and shield, plus two beam boomerangs that mount on the side skirts. Just like with Rising Freedom, you can add beam parts to the shield to use it as a beam boomerang. On top of that, similar to Infinite Justice Gundam, you can slot beam parts between the knee and the top of the foot to recreate the Beam Heavy Slash Leg. The kit can also transform into MA form through a fairly simple process, though honestly it feels more like it's just lying flat and flying along.

A few minor gripes: it feels a little stingy that only one set of basic fist hands is included with no open hands at all. The wing range of motion on the Wounderfalkea backpack is also narrower than expected — it looks like the wings should spread wide open, but instead of actually deploying, the fixed mount just rotates slightly. On top of that, the long gray parts attached to the... (곧휴 — unclear term, possibly a part name) have a tendency to droop downward at the slightest touch. Quite a few of the action pose photos above ended up like that T_T I only noticed while writing the review so I couldn't reshoot them, but think of those shots as a pretty candid demonstration of just how easily they sag down — hope you'll bear with me on that.

All in all, this is a kit that takes the Justice Gundam design and gives it a sleek modern makeover, with excellent color separation and minimal seals that do a great job of nailing the design's color scheme. Articulation and joint strength are top-notch too, giving it an overall quality level that's on par with — or slightly above — the HGCE Rising Freedom Gundam. If you're a fan of the SEED aesthetic or just dig the design, this is a high-quality kit you can grab without hesitation, and it'd be even better to build alongside the HGCE Rising Freedom :-)
