The Gundam Mk-II (Titans) has arrived as an HGUC kit. It was already famous for having a great design from the start, but it's been born here as a superb masterpiece with the best proportions and feel around. And interestingly, the Titans color scheme — which has a subtly more charismatic vibe than the AEUG version starring the main character — was released first.
First of all, even among all Gunpla kits, this one stands out as having truly out-standing overall proportions. It looks great in photos, but honestly the photos don't even do it justice. With its excellent leg articulation range and joint structure, it looks good in any pose. On top of that, all the joints are nice and stiff, so they hold poses well.
The color separation is nearly perfect, and the Titans color scheme is faithfully reproduced. The original color combination is a bit on the drab side, so it can look a little off in photos — but seeing it in person, the molded colors actually look quite nice.
Also, for the first time in HGUC (or possibly all of Gunpla), it includes a solid one-piece action manipulator, molded in a natural beam saber gripping pose. The way it holds the beam saber rivals the precision of a decent high-detail resin manipulator. It is a solid one-piece part, so it's really only an advantage if you're painting — but even so, compared to a fixed hand that just clips onto the beam saber, this thing is really something special.
The MG Gundam Mk-II (Titans) isn't a bad kit by any means, but it always left a little something to be desired in the joints and proportions. If there's an HGUC that surpasses its MG counterpart — a kit that's technically a grade below — the Gundam Mk-II (Titans) is probably the one people are talking about. ^^
This one is also just a joy to build. Highly recommended kit~!
