Zaku II

Kit Review

Straight build + Panel lining

This is the 3rd Zaku II variation, released as the mass production type (for regular soldiers). Naturally, almost everything carries over from the existing Zaku II — same structure and articulation. The only structural difference is that there's no head antenna.

The molded color on the mass production version is actually quite nice, though it might be a bit too bright of a yellow-green compared to the original design. It's noticeably different from the MG Zaku II F mass production type, and is actually closer in color to the later-released Zaku II F2. Either way, the overall molded color gives off a really premium feel.

Just like the MG Zaku II F mass production type, this one comes with a triple missile pod that attaches to the leg. The detail is decent enough for the size, but it's frustrating that it doesn't lock onto the leg securely — it just fits way too loosely. Even if you get it on there nicely, the slightest movement and it goes flopping around~. The machine gun, bazooka, heat hawk, and other accessories are all included just like the previous HGUC Zaku IIs.

Compared to the previously released Char's and Garma's custom units, there's really nothing particularly different, so it's best to pick whichever one suits your personal taste based on the molded color, unit characteristics, and included accessories. Of course, the quality-to-price ratio is excellent, so building all three as a set wouldn't be a bad idea either~ ^^
