The HGUC 0080 rush continues~ This time it's the GM Command. (Some people also call it "GM Commando" in the Japanese style.) It can be seen as a variation kit sharing its base with the previously released 0080 Cold Districts GM. So the basic articulation characteristics and proportions are identical to the Cold Districts GM, but there are quite a few differences in the details. The GM Command comes in two versions — Colony type and Space type — with the Colony type released first.
The head is an entirely new part, and while the arm and leg armor, joints, torso ducts, skirt armor, weapons, and so on may look similar at first glance, about 50% of the external armor is actually a new design when you look closely. (See comparison photos.) Maybe that's why, once you've built it, it feels surprisingly quite different from the Cold Districts GM.
Just as the HGUC GM kits have delivered outstanding value for money and satisfaction, this GM Command is no different — compact and sturdy, with solid yet well-articulated joints and perfect color separation, it boasts top-tier quality. It's a kit that just feels great once you've finished building it. The Cold Districts GM was already very well received, but personally I like the GM Command just a little bit more. One thing to note is that GM kits in general tend to have somewhat rough seam lines that are quite visible in a straight build, and the GM Command is no exception. But given that it's an affordable HGUC, that's understandable to a degree. ^^
For starters, the Cold Districts GM's rifle was a bit tricky to hold properly due to its design, but the GM Command's rifle plugs right into the hand and won't fall out. The shield is also a more refined design, and the subtle tone of the molded color feels nicer than the cold feel of the Cold Districts GM (well, it's called Cold Districts for a reason..?). It's also cleaner-looking since it doesn't go overboard with unnecessary seals. Oh, and come to think of it, the GM Command's backpack looks better too. ^^;
Anyway, the HGUC GM kits are all high quality no matter which one you pick up, making them gems that satisfy both beginners and seasoned hobbyists alike. Among them, the GM Command stands out as the best GM kit of the bunch — a fantastic kit with incredible value for money that I'd recommend to everyone.
