Gaza C (Haman Karn Custom)

Kit Review

Straight build + Panel lining

The Zeta wave keeps on rolling~ This time it's the Gaza C. The mass production version and the Haman Karn Custom were released at the same time, but the Haman Custom got the earlier kit number. First off, the molded color on this kit is absolutely top-notch. The colors are soft and subdued in the best way — the straight build quality alone is good enough to hold its own against anything.

When you first build the Gaza C's body, it feels surprisingly small. If you factor in all the stuff on the back it's not that small, but just the body on its own feels really compact.. and that super slim waist only adds to that impression.

The Gaza C's signature transformation gimmick is perfectly reproduced, giving you a smooth transformation sequence. The chest separation and rotation parts in particular seem really cleanly executed. That said, because of the transformation gimmick, the whole body doesn't feel like it's locked together super tightly. Thankfully there's nothing that's really loose — it's got a decent amount of resistance — but getting the body to sit at just the right angles takes a bit of fiddling.. Still, once you get it dialed in, the proportions are really nice. ^^

The downside is that the transformation mechanism means articulation had to be sacrificed in several places. The neck doesn't rotate at all, so in action poses it's always staring straight ahead, which feels a bit awkward;; Also, the plastic feels harder rather than softer, so you'll want to be extra careful when cleaning up gate marks.

Color separation is pretty well done — the triple-layer separation on the shield in particular deserves a shoutout. But it's a shame they went with seals for the wrist area when color separation was clearly doable there.. Also worth noting: the Haman Custom version doesn't include a stand — that's only included with the mass production version.

Like recent HGUC releases, this is a solid kit with nothing to complain about in terms of build quality. Not too many parts, a reasonable price, great transformation, and clean molded colors — if you're a fan of the Gaza C or Lady Haman, this is a must-buy you won't regret. ^^
