Kit Review
Straight build
+ panel lining
Inner frame shots. It's a full frame everywhere except the torso — wow..
So I went ahead and did some panel lining on the frame, something I don't even bother with on MGs. ^^;
One more thing, for those of you having a bit of trouble assembling the head..
Some people find that the polycap connection between the neck part and the head part is too loose and the head keeps popping off.
This happens because the round polycap on the neck (the kind commonly used for 1/144 neck joints) doesn't seat fully into the recessed polycap on the head side
— it just won't click in all the way.
There's actually a simple fix — no modding required whatsoever. ^^
Just slightly change the assembly order: connect the neck part and the lower head part first, and while doing so,
press the polycap with your finger so it doesn't get pushed back, then snap it in. It'll fit nice and tight.
In other words, the neck isn't inherently loose — it's just that the polycap doesn't stay in place properly.
Most of you will probably run into this issue, but with the method above you can get a solid, secure fit very easily.
Extension parts attached on both sides.
I wanted to make a heart shape above the head but the arms are a bit too short for that;
If the single-segment arm looks too stubby, adding just one extension segment in the middle does help a bit.
The signature Acguy sitting pose... It's not as natural as on the MG,
and since there's no special gimmick in the hip joint, you can't actually get into this pose normally.
To pull it off, you have to yank the legs out and just plop them on the ground like in the photo on the upper right.. OTL
Alongside the legendary MG Acguy. The molded colors are surprisingly quite different.
Proportions-wise, the MG feels chunkier and stubbier.
The HGUC somehow looks a bit more sleek. (Not that it isn't still a chubby little thing..)
Rear view comparison. The backpack vernier shapes are a bit different too. The backs of the knees are different as well..
