RX-78 G30th ver. G3

Kit Review

Straight build

This kit is the 30th Anniversary HG Gundam G3 Version, released as a limited edition for the 2010 Gundam Super Expo. Over the years, various forms of the G3 have come out as limited and special editions, and the 30th Anniversary HG First is no exception — it's gotten the G3 treatment as well.

The basic kit characteristics are 100% identical to the 30th Anniversary HG Gundam, so there's nothing particularly new to point out — you'd really just want to pay attention to the coloring, since G3's color schemes tend to vary quite a bit from release to release. In the past, two G3 kits came out at the 1/144 scale: the G3 & Char's Rick Dom set version, which had slightly deeper colors, and the G3 limited edition that was bundled together with the Zeong pink version. Of those, this HG G3 has a similar color feel to the one from the Char's Rick Dom set, but if you look closely, it's still a little different ^^;

As the main character, the First keeps getting repackaged in all sorts of ways — so a G3 release is pretty much a given at this point, and it's hard to get too excited about it. That said, the G3 color scheme always looks clean and well-balanced no matter when you see it :-)
