HG The Witchfrom Mercury

Darilbalde

Kit Review

Straight build + Stickers

This kit is the HG Darilbalde from "Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury". Following the series concept, it uses polycap-less joints — and compared to the somewhat stiff joints on earlier kits in the line, these are nicely tuned to be smooth while still holding their position well.

Overall, this is an A-tier HG kit with clean color separation, great molded colors, a smooth build experience, and solid joint strength. On top of that, the excellent articulation makes it easy to recreate all kinds of poses from the show. The beam Jabelin can be split into a beam anchor and a beam kunai, and the offensive drones "Ishvara" can be swapped between Type A (with hands) and Type B (for the beam saber).

The defensive drones "Ambika" on the shoulders can also be detached, but if you want to display all four drones separately, you'll need an additional stand. On top of that, a wire is included to deploy the feet as the "Shackle Claw", and a simple clear plastic stand is also bundled in.

All in all, this is a well-rounded, exemplary HG kit with clean overall quality. The one minor gripe is that you'll need to borrow extra stands to deploy all four drones at once. (The Witch from Mercury display base releasing in January 2023 fits perfectly for this, though.) Either way, if you like the design, this is a solid kit you can pick up without worrying about quality. :-)
