HG The Witchfrom Mercury

Zowort

Kit Review

Straight build + Stickers

This kit is the HG Zowort, released as part of the Mobile Suit Gundam "The Witch from Mercury" series. It's a kit that really stands out for its clean color separation with no seals needed, and the molded colors came out beautifully too. Overall, it delivers just the right amount of articulation and joint strength.

The Witch from Mercury HG series uses polycap-less joints, and there were cases where the articulation felt stiff or awkward. But the HG Zowort shows off the most refined polycap-less joints we've seen so far. They're still not quite as smooth as polycaps, but the movement has become noticeably more comfortable while still holding poses firmly. Articulation is excellent overall, and even simple poses really bring out a sense of dynamism. On top of that, the vectored boosters on the back can rotate freely, which adds even more energy to your posing options.

One downside is that the front thigh armor is quite thick, so when you raise the legs upward, it keeps interfering with the lower waist area. Since there's no skirt structure, you'd think the thighs would lift easily — but because of this, the range of motion ends up being limited, and the hip joints can pop out. That said, you can still pull off plenty of great-looking poses without much trouble.

Overall, this is an exemplary HG kit with clean, polished quality, and it really feels like the polycap-less joints have finally reached their peak. It's a mecha model with a style that's hard to dislike, and the assembly experience is top-notch. If you're a Witch from Mercury fan, this is a no-brainer purchase, and it's a great kit I'd recommend to any Gunpla builder who enjoys the build process. :-)
