Gundam Vidar is the second release in the Iron-Blooded Orphans 1/100 Full Mechanics lineup. The kit composition is the same as the previous Full Mechanics Gundam Barbatos Lupus and earlier 1/100 kits, with the same three basic frame runners from the 1/100 Gundam Barbatos still being reused.
The HG Gundam Vidar came out clean and nice, but the sheer presence of the 1/100 scale is on a whole different level. Thanks to the large, complex armor layout and more refined detail, the straight build already looks pretty impressive visually. That said, in terms of functional features, it doesn't show a huge difference compared to the HG.
However, a side armor slide gimmick that wasn't on the HG has been added here, and using it you can pull off a pretty convincing Burst Saber draw pose. On top of that, a wrist-articulated hand specifically for the Burst Saber is included, which lets you naturally recreate a forward thrusting pose when holding the saber.
It looks like all the stuff hanging off it would make posing a pain, but ever since the 1/100 line was rebranded as Full Mechanics the joint strength has improved, so it's actually easier to pose than you'd expect. The feet have good ground contact too, so it feels even easier to balance and get the proportions right compared to the Gundam Barbatos Lupus.
Honestly, since this is an Iron-Blooded Orphans kit that keeps reusing the same frame over and over, even building a new kit can feel a bit stale. That said, the overall angular style and blue color scheme do give the finished build a distinctly unique look. Anyway, it's a solid 1/100 scale kit with no major drawbacks, and personally I'd recommend it a bit more than the Barbatos Lupus. :-)
