Grimgerde

Kit Review

The Grimgerde, which showed off peak quality in HG form, has now been released in 1/100 scale as well. As always, a red mobile suit in the Gundam universe just radiates a presence that's on a whole different level. ^^

First off, true to its lore, this kit uses the all-new "Valkyria Frame," with brand-new frame runners included. It feels like a step up even from the Graze Frame, delivering excellent articulation and improved joint strength. On top of that, the armor barely gets in the way of movement at all, so just like the HG, it's firmly cementing its place as the king of articulation.

The improved frame structure makes it noticeably easier to get poses to hold compared to the 1/100 Graze, with better stability overall. The joint strength in particular hits that sweet spot — not too loose, not too stiff — and that's one of the most impressive things about this kit.

Feature-wise, the head's sphere sensor can be opened, and the small ball-shaped sensor inside can even be rotated, though it's a bit stiff. The Valkyria Rifle's magazine and stock can be folded freely for compact storage, and the connection gimmick between the Valkyria Blade and shield is also a step up from the HG version.

Overall, this feels like the ultimate kit among the 1/100 No Grade lineup — even the joint instability that was an issue with Barbatos and Graze has been sorted out, making this a pretty much flawless kit. If you loved the Grimgerde in the show, or you're just into this kind of sleek, fast-looking(?) mobile suit, I'd highly recommend it. And if you're curious about where 1/100 quality stands these days — seemingly surpassing even MG — this is a well-crafted kit that's genuinely fun to build just for the experience of putting it together. :-)
