The 1/100 Graze [Kai] has been released as a variation of the Graze — which you could call the Zaku of Iron-Blooded Orphans. Visually, it's a kit with changes to the head, chest, shoulders, and backpack, while most of the body reuses parts straight from the existing 1/100 Graze. Since really only the upper body and head area have a different design, the basic characteristics below the chest — articulation, joint strength, frame structure — are 100% identical.
Since the 1/100 Graze was already such a high-quality kit, this one likewise delivers excellent articulation, a full-body frame, great molded colors, and sharp, crisp sculpting. The newly added white molded color in particular has a matte, pastel-like finish that looks so refined it almost feels like it's been painted.
The 1/100 Graze [Kai] comes with a lot of extra weapons that weren't included with the HG version. First, there are parts to swap both shoulders out for bazooka-mount type shoulders, and it also includes feet, thigh armor, a backpack, and a battle blade that can be combined with the 1/100 Graze normal version to create a ground combat configuration. These ground combat parts have quite a bit more volume than you'd expect, and even if you don't have a separate 1/100 Graze, the normal version's head and shoulder parts are already left over as leftover parts in this kit anyway. So if you feel like it, you can actually build a normal Graze ground combat configuration using just the 1/100 Graze [Kai] kit alone.
One interesting thing — as you can see, despite the significantly increased number of parts compared to the original 1/100 Graze, the price is set at the same ¥3000. I mean, you can clearly see about 4 extra runners at a glance, and yet the price didn't go up!! Whether it's Bandai's confidence or just a goodwill gesture, it's both surprising and appreciated. The ground combat parts in particular feel like a complete bonus thrown in for free.
It's a variation kit that was bound to come out eventually, so there wasn't anything hugely surprising about it — but it's a kit with a very solid foundation, and the generous content for the price makes it well worth picking up. :-)
