MS Option Set 1 & CGS Mobile Worker

Kit Review

Straight build + Stickers

Just like the Build Fighters line, Iron-Blooded Orphans has its own separate accessory lineup called the Iron-Blooded Arms series, and the first release in that line is the MS Option Set 1 & CGS Mobile Worker.

This kit includes 5 accessories in total.

1. Gliding Cannon for Barbatos
It has a slide gimmick on the lower section, and it can be attached without much trouble using the weapon arm included with HG Barbatos. It can be held in one hand just fine, but due to the structure of Barbatos's hands and arms, getting a cool two-handed firing pose out of it is pretty tough even if you want to go that route.

2. Lance for Schwalbe Graze
It combines with the rifle and can be attached to the HG Schwalbe Graze. It holds on well and looks pretty cool too.

3. Rifle (Short Barrel)
A fairly straightforward firearm-type weapon that can combine with the lance.

4. Shield for Graze
It's a simple, clean design, and what's interesting is that it plugs into the hole on the Graze's forearm for a really solid connection. Thanks to the perfectly optimized attachment structure, it holds on better than just about any other shield out there.

5. Mobile Worker (CGS/Ground Use)
This is the three-legged tank-like weapon that the CGS mercenary group — the one the main character belongs to — used in their battle against Gjallarhorn in episode 1. Despite being made up of just 3 parts, it's rendered with a surprisingly solid sense of volume. The underside is riddled with hollow areas, but personally I think this is the standout piece of the whole kit.

The overall functionality and molding are decent enough, so if you've got a bunch of Iron-Blooded Orphans HG kits, these accessories are reasonably useful. The real issue, though, is the molded color — everything comes in a single dark, gloomy gray. There's absolutely no consideration given to color accuracy, so unless you're planning to paint these, it's a bit of an awkward buy just for fun.

Bottom line: this is really only a kit I'd recommend to die-hard Iron-Blooded Orphans fans who want it purely as a display piece regardless of the molded color, or to those who are planning to paint it anyway. At ¥600 for what's included, it feels a bit pricey — which honestly makes it seem like it's aimed squarely at people who already know they want it. :-)
