This kit is the HG Gundam Kimaris Trooper, which might look like(?) a variation of the HG Kimaris — but in reality, every runner and part except for one frame runner is brand-new tooling. It shares only the basic design concept and color scheme with the Gundam Kimaris, so you can pretty much treat it as a completely different mobile suit.
For starters, the overall look is much more angular and elaborate compared to the rounder Kimaris we knew before. On top of that, the large hovering rear skirt, the even bigger and more refined Destroyer Lance, and a newly designed shield are all added in, making the whole package feel quite luxurious.
The stylish Destroyer Lance is quite large, but thankfully the handle peg locks into the back-of-hand parts, so the grip is extremely secure. There's also an extra bent-wrist hand included specifically for holding the lance, which lets you pull off some pretty natural-looking poses. The new shield can be attached at both the hand and elbow, keeping it firmly in place — so overall, weapon stability is actually a lot better than it looks, and that's something to be happy about.
You can also transform it into the Trooper form — a kind of hovering mode just like in the show — by opening the shin armor and spreading the rear skirt out horizontally. It's such a simple process that calling it a "transformation" almost feels like a stretch. To display it in this hovering Trooper form, the kit even comes with a clear simple stand right in the box, so you can pull off a mid-air display without needing to bring in a separate stand.
In terms of articulation, it's a pretty standard 90-degree range of motion — probably because there's so much stuff hanging off it. That said, the flashy design and packed-in weapons make posing genuinely fun. You can even deploy the side skirts to support the Destroyer Lance or hold the shield, and they do their job well — keeping that big lance pointed straight forward without drooping, which is honestly impressive.
This kit is significant as a three-dimensional representation of the Gundam Kimaris Trooper from the show, and it earns high marks for its natural Trooper mode recreation, the included stand, and the fact that even the large, elaborate weapons can be held securely. If you were a fan of pilot Gaelio's action in the series, or if the kit's design just catches your eye, this is a clean, polished kit that I can recommend without hesitation. :-)
