Gundam Flauros (Ryusei-go)

Kit Review

Straight build + Stickers

Gundam Flauros (Ryusei-go), a mobile suit with those impressive massive rail guns, has been released as an HG kit. The rail guns are reminiscent of the Guncannon, and on top of that, the detachable rifles mounted on the backpack face forward, giving the whole suit a very aggressive look. It also features a simple transformation into a bombardment mode where it crouches down like a four-legged beast.

The base frame is a typical Gundam frame very similar to Barbatos, offering solid articulation and joint strength. That said, probably due to all the transformation-related bits and pieces attached to it, the articulation doesn't really stand out all that much. Still, the full-barrage firing pose that's unique to this kind of kit looks pretty darn cool. ^^

The transformation gimmick into bombardment mode is pretty straightforward — you line up the rail guns with the backpack, then rotate the waist 180 degrees and have the body crouch down. The four-legged beast-like form it takes actually reminds me of the Gaia Gundam from Gundam SEED. The transformation process itself is simple enough, but getting the gun barrels angled just right afterward is oddly tricky, so it's not the most satisfying transformation to play around with.

The main selling point of this kit is that it's a transformable MS — a rare sight in Iron-Blooded Orphans — and the overall quality is decent, nothing spectacular but nothing bad either. If you're into the pink Ryusei-go color scheme or you're a fan of fire-support type suits like the Guncannon, this could be a pretty fun build. :-)
