Kit Review

The Rouei, which appears in Iron-Blooded Orphans as a variant of the Hakuren with swapped-out armor, has been released as an HG kit. Given that backstory, the basic frame is reused from the HG Hakuren, and the design silhouette shares a similar concept too. That said, unlike the Hakuren which felt a bit awkward with its narrow bottom and bulky top, the proportions here have been reworked into a more well-grounded, warrior-like look overall.
Since the overall construction isn't all that different from previous kits, the quality is about on par — solid and dependable. But whether it's down to the armor layout or something else, this ended up feeling like the best-posing kit among the Iron-Blooded Orphans HG lineup. It's hard to put into words, but it's like — just strike a rough pose and it naturally comes out looking dynamic. Anyway, it's tough to explain, but this is a great kit that's genuinely fun to pose around with. The visual stability you get once a pose is set is probably the best in the whole series.
The weapons included are a heavy club and a handgun, and both can be stored on the rear skirt's storage gimmick. However, for some reason the connection between the hand and the hand armor is a bit loose, so weapons tend to pop out when you have them gripping something. It's something that's cropped up on other kits too, but it feels noticeably worse here. Also, the joint that holds the articulated backpack in place is a little weak, so it has a tendency to come loose while posing.
It's a typical Iron-Blooded Orphans HG kit with solid, no-frills quality, but it's one that poses surprisingly well and ends up being quite satisfying overall. Either way, if you're a fan of the Rouei from the show or the design just catches your eye, this is definitely a kit you'll have a good time building. :-)
