The fourth entry in the Crest series is the CR-C840/UL Lightweight Ver.
As the name suggests, it shares the same overall design concept as the other Crests, but it's a much slimmer machine. At first glance you might think it's just a variation kit, but look closely and it's a completely new design from head to toe. The only recycled part would be maybe one missile unit from the close-combat version's backpack? You really have to treat this as an all-new kit.
Probably thanks to its slim profile, the Lightweight Ver. has the best articulation of any kit in the Armored Core lineup. The hip joints move enough to bring the knees up to chest level, and both the forearms and knees fold the most of any kit in the series — so you can pull off a natural kneeling pose with ease. The color scheme, like the close-combat version, is a blue tone, which feels a bit more colorful than the gray-toned Crest.
Overall it's light and flexible, making it quite easy to pose — though if you look at joint strength alone, it doesn't feel quite as tight as the Crest normal version. That said, since it's so light, nothing really feels loose either. You also get connector parts to swap the left and right backpack armaments around, and the backpack's Overd Boost can open and close, so it's pretty solid on the feature front too.
As an Armored Core kit with a light, slim, and dynamic feel, the overall quality is solid and stable enough that I'd happily recommend it even to Armored Core beginners. :-)
